You all begin negotiations with some price or position inside your head. These are wishes; you have no idea if they are right or wrong until the other party reacts in some way. And based on these reactions that price or position that was inside your head begins fluttering around. It’s crucial to remember that we’re constantly giving and receiving messages in every negotiation. People’s wants and expectations are moving up, down and horizontally based on the things you say, the way you carry yourself and the way you handle concessions. Going into a negotiation without a plan or strategy is a sure-fire way to leave money on the table. The problem is most people don’t know how to plan and prepare for a negotiation. You’ve all heard the expression “In life, you'll do better if you do your homework,” but how are you supposed to do your homework in a negotiation if you don’t know what the assignment is?
Tony will share with you a step-by-step process to ensure proper planning and preparation for all future negotiations.
